the art of Linjitsu.......Skin

Halfway through my senior year in college for Anthropology, I started an apprenticeship for body piercing, after talking to a local shop owner about how I was interested in learning a trade that was in alignment with my studies in human culture. Body art was a sacred and ritual practice that had always been a part of the human landscape. I saw it as a working 'field study' of sorts, a way to study anthropology in a real, modern context.

I didn't know it then, but that was the start of quite a long journey in the body art world. I started tattooing in 2005 and have been pursuing it on some level ever since. There is something so enrapturing about having art on your skin that travels with you wherever you go. It is something that still fascinates me all these years later.

If you'd like to talk to me about a custom tattoo project, the easiest way to get something going is to shoot me a message through this sites contact form. (Before emailing, please read over the Notes section on this page for further important information and requirements for booking.)

NOTES:

I only take on certain kinds of work these days-- primarily custom work where I can have freedom to interpret your idea in a way that fits with your body, existing collection of work, and my own style. A project between the two of us is where all those things meet. I want to give you a great piece of art that you'll be proud to wear for the rest of your life.

Styles I prefer: Conceptual Illustrative work (cool ideas drawn in my own way), Geometric/Ornamental, Japanese, Traditional

(If you are unsure if your intended project falls within these styles, feel free to shoot me a message, if I cannot take on your project I often know someone who would do a great job for you. )
